With the smallest brush that makes it comfortable for us to paint and / or spatula, we add subtle details just where we want to focus our attention.

For example, if we are painting houses, there is no need to outline the roof tiles, but only where the focus is. If we make all the objects detailed we will no longer have focus. The picture will become uninteresting because we have left nothing to the imagination of the observer - everything is revealed.

If we paint with oils, we could very easily and quickly add detail to the selected areas by scratching the still soft paint from the previous layers, being careful not to puncture the canvas. Usually the final details are the most demanding because they require precise work and focus. If we are not careful, in a short time we can ruin all the work we have done so far. So it is a good idea to rest until the next day if we have just completed step 3.
