Isometric art

Isometric art is a virtual perspective which allows us to have 3D objects without actually having vanishing points and horizon line. In real perspective vanishing points are placed on the horizon line and objects become smaller in the distance towards these points. In isometric perspective all objects look as they are placed on the same distance from the viewer/camera. It was very popular and useful by the time when everyone wanted 3d graphics in games, but hardware couldn't render real 3D graphics. To draw something in isometric perspective we need an isometric grid. The easiest way is to search for an isometric dot paper template and then print it or transfer the dots. They look like diamond shapes consisting of 4 dots. Drawing in isometric perspective has one drawback - one cannot draw the sky because viewer is directed towards the ground. If ground is higher than the clouds

It is up to us if we decide to place a whole building in a single diamond shape or just one step of the staircase.
